Paris was just as romantic and beautiful as they say. It was my first time visiting, and I had been dreaming about going for years now. I fell in love with Paris because of the women. I adore everything about Parisiennes, about French Girls. No one quite does "it" like the French.

Women like Caroline de Maigret (she even wrote a guide on How to be Parisian Wherever You Are, in case you were wondering where to start on your journey to cool, effortless French Girl status), Jeanne Damas, and Violette_fr. French Girls have this unspeakably effortless style to them that I am just enamoured with. She never wears too much make-up. She enhances her features, but not all at once, and is sure not to mask or cake over her imperfections. Her hair is perfectly tousled in the most bedhead chic way. She invests in her skincare and it shows. Her wardrobe always includes a signature piece: a striped shirt, a great leather jacket, perfectly proportioned skinny jeans, or a Chanel bag. Everything about her is done, but a bit undone. And let's not forget the red lip.

For me, Paris was about watching, listening and learning. Not to mention about practicing my French. I wore this all black everything look quite often, which probably isn't super French Girl chic. But hey, it just means I'll have to come back and take more notes.

Have you been to Paris? What's your favourite thing about it?
